Art Deco Diamond Brooch

A fine Art Deco diamond bar brooch, to the centre a transitional brilliant-cut pear shaped diamond estimated to weigh 0.75 carats, assessed colour H, assessed clarity VS1, set between eight (8) fancy-cut brilliant diamonds four on each side, to an openwork diamond-set plaque of geometric design, all within a row of old European-cut diamonds, the diamonds estimated to weigh 4 carats in total, all millegrain-set in platinum mount, with platinum pin fitting, circa 1930. Made at the height of the jazz age, this spectacular brooch is emblematic of Art Deco design in its geometric shapes and the pairing of diamonds and platinum. This is a lively piece: the glittering central diamond is enhanced by the pave-set diamonds surrounding it. This brooch catches the light beautifully and would be stunning on a silk scarf or even on a tie. The outer frame then is removable transforming the bar brooch into a lesser brooch or pendant. The two extremities then transform to become either lapel clips or earrings forming a part diamond suite of jewellery.
