Shine bright like a diamond

During our recent visit to Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter in sunny Hockley, we arranged a meeting with one of the country’s leading diamond specialists, who showed us samples of what he had currently on offer in the form of ‘bundles’, a collection of loose stones and set diamonds all for sale below the Rapaport diamond guide trade price.

A specific diamond in our bundle was a 3.02 carat natural brilliant cut oval diamond that is graded as Colour D and Clarity IF (Internally Flawless), nearly as good as you can get, only surpassed by a flawless diamond.

I informed a customer of the diamond immediately and it is currently being designed into A BESPOKE RING. The brilliant cut oval diamond measured 12.15 x 7.88 x 4.96mm. It was also graded with Excellent cut, polish and symmetry. As we looked at the oval diamond through a Nikon Diamond Loupe, it resembled an exquisite piece of cut glass. The light shone through, making it absolutely glisten.

I informed a customer of the diamond immediately and it is currently being designed into a bespoke ring through one of the country’s leading jewellery manufactures utilising their computer assisted design (CAD) team.

Also in the bundle was a very rare, beautiful and large trilogy ring comprising of a 2 carat old cut diamond that sparkled due to its excellent cut, polish and symmetry. The diamond was flanked by two matched extremely rare Kashmir sapphires, each of 1.5 carats, with excellent deep blue colour saturation and a velvety sheen. Like most Kashmir sapphires they possessed the needle-like inclusions referred to as ‘silk’, which contribute to their soft, dream-like glow and velvety appearance.

The ring was set in 18 carat (750) yellow gold and 950 platinum hallmarked through the London Assay office with a date letter L in a gothic style representing 1926-1927. It must have been the height of fashion for the Art Deco era. The gemstones had been analysed via a gemmologist laboratory that confirmed the sapphire origins being Kashmir in the vertiginous snow-capped Zanskar range of the Himalayas.

The bundle also included several other items of jewellery and a few lesser-size loose diamonds, which have also been sent to the manufacturers in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.

If you are looking for a quality bespoke designed ring or item of jewellery, get in touch as any diamond or gemstone can be obtained direct from trade at a fraction of the high street recommended retail price and CAD designed into unique completely one-off bespoke designs to your specifications.
